Description

This document is a CSEC presentation deck giving an overview of LEVITATION, "a behaviour-based target discovery project." LEVITATION is used to identify targets based on documents downloaded from free file upload (FFU) services such as Sendspace and Rapidshare. A special source, codenamed ATOMIC BANJO, collects HTTP metadata for FFU sites, which is then filtered for documents of interest. Metadata from the documents of interest is correlated to personally-identifying information, if available, from CSEC databases MUTANT BROTH and MARINA, with the aim of locating the person who downloaded the document. The presentation concludes with two successful case studies.

Christopher Parsons has written a more detailed analysis of the LEVITATION presentation, accessible here.
